The Ateneo Art Gallery- widely recognized today as the first museum of Philippine modern art- proudly announces the launch of its Video Art Program with the opening of the exhibition MODES OF IMPACT : THE INAUGURAL COLLECTION OF VIDEO ART. Through a grant from SMART Corporation, the museum has been able to begin collecting outstanding works of Filipino artists that work with video.  Featured in this exhibition curated by Clarissa Chikiamco are pieces by Martha Atienza, Yason Banal, Kiri Dalena, Tad Ermitano, Manny Montelibano, Kaloy Olavides, Mark Salvatus, Gerry Tan and Maria Taniguchi.

Since its inception, the AAG has been at the forefront of recognizing, exhibiting and collecting the best art of the time. From the 1960’s when it showcased the works by then emerging moderns Arturo Luz, Jose Joya, Vicente Manansala, and HR Ocampo to the new millenium’s Ateneo Art Awards, the AAG has always sought to bring to public attention the best of contemporary Philippine art.  It is in keeping with this pioneering spirit that the AAG now embarks on a program to collect and exhibit excellent examples of video art.
